The Henry County Board of Education voted unanimously at its Sept. 13 regular meeting to approve a 12-month contract for up to $170,000 to provide technology and support for a new program emphasizing career and college readiness. It will be available to some 23,000 students in grades 6-12.

In other business, the school board approved the implementation of a new digital literacy policy that was introduced last month for public review, with no public comment received. Also approved was a right-of-way agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation, which will pay the school district $18,200 for .039 acres on the north end of EXCEL Academy and $14,719 to relocate a chain link fence in preparation for the upcoming roundabout to be constructed where Hwy. 20 meets McGarity Road and Lawrenceville Street.
