The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved acceptance of a $2,000 Cherokee Recreation and Parks grant from the Atlanta Falcons and a budget amendment in the same amount for girls flag football, according to a press release.

In 2018 the Falcons, along with the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation sponsored girls flag football programs across the state. The program, which aims to provide an opportunity for high school girls to participate in football and be part of an organized high school sports team, also has support from the NFL.

In a separate action the commissioners approved a second agreement with Heath & Lineback Engineers, Inc. for the Transart Parkway over Toonigh Bridge Replacement Project to provide construction inspection services during construction in the amount of $35,904.
