Just in time for Halloween fun, The Wren’s Nest presents a brand new Halloween-time experience, The Wren’s Nest Séance. Attendees are encouraged to join a fleet of spirits for this family-friendly fall season event that brings to life the séance craze popular around the turn of the 20th century, according to a press release.

Séances were popular around the same time The Wren’s Nest was built, according to organizers, and were an attempt to speak with the dead who are in the spirit world, utilizing the help of a spiritual medium who was supposed to have a special connection with the world of the dead.

One of the most vocal opponents of the ability of the dead to speak to the living was the famous magician Houdini, who used his fame to prove that these contacts were fake. During a séance, the spirits would usually indicate their presence by knocking. More advanced mediums used hidden elements that they would use to trick people into thinking spirits were actually present. This séance is no different.

The Wren’s Nest isn’t seeking to awaken or raise the dead; just show guests a spirited good time.

The Wren’s Nest Séance will be offered at 8 p.m. every Friday and Saturday from Sept. 24 to Oct. 30. Tickets are $25 per person.

The Wren’s Nest Séance is following CDC guidelines by asking that everyone have their mouth and nose completely covered. Officials are also strongly recommending that anyone attending The Wren’s Nest Séance has already received their complete vaccination before attending.
