Swedish retailer H&M, short for Hennes & Mauritz, will open its fifth Atlanta store in Cumberland Mall on Nov. 19.

The chain only recently entered the Atlanta market, but has been expanding rapidly in Georgia and other U.S. markets. The other stores are in Atlantic Station, The Mall of Georgia, Town Center at Cobb and North Point Mall.

The first 100 shoppers in line at the Cumberland opening will receive a $10 to $100 gift card.

“H&M is committed to finding the best locations in the U.S. marketplace and to bringing affordable fashion to even more style-conscious shoppers in Atlanta,” said Daniel Kulle, U.S. country manager for H&M, in a statement.

On Nov. 14, H&M will launch a new line by footwear designer Jimmy Choo, to include shoes, handbags and some men's and women's apparel.

H&M is known for its temporary lines of affordable fashions from high-end designers, a strategy also used by Target and Wal-Mart.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
