Kristen O'Connor seemed like dead weight to me. I have no idea why they even let her in for the wild card. They should have kept either pretty boy Spencer Lloyd or Bria Anai, the R&B Lithonia teen.
And tonight proved me right. (I called it last night, though it was hardly a tough call.)
Kristen is a decent singer but offers nothing more than a pageant performance. She brings nothing interesting to the table - at all.
Malaya Watson (barely) survives another week. She certainly needs to calm down.
I also predicted yesterday Dexter Roberts being in the bottom but he wasn't. It will be an all-female bottom three. Instead, it was MK Nobilette, who survived.
Safe: Ben, Alex, Jena, Dexter, Majesty, Sam, Caleb, Emily, CJ, Jessica
Bottom three: Malaya, MK, Kristen
UPDATE: Ratings last night were 9.8 million with a pitiful 2.3 18-49 rating, losing by wide margins to "The Big Bang Theory" and even "The Millers" at the 8:30 p.m. hour. In the 18-49 demo, "Two and a Half Men," "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal" later that night beat "Idol." So the show, even without the Olympics, saw no real bounce.
Randy Jackson's comments. (He lacks that Jimmy Iovine edge but he's adequate.)
Malaya Watson: "She didn't quite calm down enough. The song got the best of her."
Jena Irene: "She did a very good job getting that message across."
Ben Briley: "It was way too fast. We slowed it down a bit to help him get the words. On the show, it was still a little too fast."
Alex Preston: "I loved the subtleness of this performance. Great job, Alex."
MK Nobilette: "We had moving. We made strides. She had a little makeover... She did really well last night."
Sam Woolf "Very talented, very cool but very shy. He's so good and talented. He needs his performance to match his talent. If he can, he'll be money."
Majesty Rose: "In rehearsal, don't eat the words. Really enunciate. On the night, she was fantastic. She totally made the song her own."
Dexter Roberts: "Hold the note at the end. Find spots to make it more your own. Dexter didn't quite take all the advice. It wasn't his best performance but it was good enough to keep him around."
CJ Harris: "He needs to be consistent every week and not let the nerves get to him."
Kristen O'Connor: "She gave a pretty good performance. They were pretty positive. Did she sound that expression and get the message across?"
Caleb Johnson: "He continues to show who he is. He's the in-house rocker."
Jessica Meuse: "It was amazing to hear her sing. She has this big voice. I want her to show the emotion. She commands your attention from jump. She's so effortless."
Emily Piriz: "It's a tough one to deliver. She did a beautiful performance but lacked a little bit of the Pink edge."
