I'm out of town and watched the episode without taking notes or with access to a DVR. This episode was numbers No. 7 although it aired after episode 8. So I have none of Todd's quippy quotes committed to memory.
USA's "Chrisley Knows Best" falls on the side of incredibly contrived like "Duck Dynasty," riding on the charms of the participants, not whether any of it remotely seems "real."
This episode is on the high end of contrived - even for this show.
The basic conceit: Savannah and Chase, Todd's teen-age son and daughter, are spoiled and need to learn the value of money. His solution? Get them jobs.
We don't see how they actually get said jobs. There appear to be no job interviews. It looks like the Olde Atlanta Golf Club in Suwanee and the Dress Up shop in Gainesville took on Chase and Savannah, respectively, for publicity purposes.
There was no obvious intention to give either of them actual jobs. They both worked all of two days. Chase was "fired" after cleaning golf carts and taking a client around day one, then being tortured by his dad and grandfather as a caddie day two. Savannah worked the warehouse day one and behind the counter day two. There was some issue with Savannah letting someone leave without paying for their clothes but that looked like a set up.
On day three, Todd drove them to a rescue farm, where they tried to milk cows, clean up manure and take eggs off chickens. Each was "paid" $21 apiece, with Chase acting more squirrelly about the experience than Savannah. In other words, like father, like son.
In the end, the two kids learned the value of hard work - or something like that.
This all begs the usual question: what does Todd Chrisley now do for a living except harangue his kids on a reality TV show? For someone who talks so much about hard work, he is hardly working.
And it's always nice to remind folks here that Chrisley is in bankruptcy protection (though his wife supposedly comes from money so that's where all the assets lay.) Chrisley used to do real estate and his wife is now doing some work as an agent. On the show, Chrisley's financial issues don't really exist.
