The national press keeps writing stories about Clay Aiken's unlikely (and most likely, unsuccessful) run for a House seat in North Carolina. The latest? Rolling Stone magazine.
Fed up with Republican Renee Ellmers, he decided to run after resisting for months.
"People recognized that it couldn't just be a normal politician up against her," he told Rolling Stone. "We needed somebody who was going to get people to pay attention.' 'Now it was time to give it a go.' "
He sold his mansion and is pretty much going salary free this year to go for political office. I presume if he loses, he'll go back to singing but he has been on a singing sabbatical so far.
But as the story notes, "In the entertainment business, you need as broad a base of audience as you can get. If you go into politics – pfft – cut it in half. So come November 5th, I will be in Congress or I will be looking for a different job than I've had the last 11 years."
His music career has been on a back slide for years with his inability to generate new songs has certainly hurt him.

I watched some of the clips from Battle Rounds, part two of 'The Voice." Some impressive singing. The local girl Clara Hong was "montaged" out of existence. Two more Atlantans remain: Jean Kelley and James David Carter.
The eighth season of "The Voice' in the spring will feature Christina Aguilera taking back Gwen Stefani's spot returning while Pharrell Williams, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton remain.

Melinda Doolittle decided to spend a week listening to top 40 music. Here are her Facebook observations:
Here are my observations:
1. Apparently, any man with the first name, Sam, can just flat out sing. (See: Smith, Romans)
2. Nick Jonas can sing for real!!!! I mean, I know he was in The Jonas Brothers and they were cool and all, but this boy's tone was hidden somewhere! (See: Jealous)
3. I have come to the conclusion that I am never going to know what loving someone like a black widow means…no matter HOW MANY TIMES THEY PLAY THAT SONG! (See: Iggy Azalea)
4. I really like to car dance. A lot. (See: Shake It Off and All About That Bass)
5. Ariana Grande can sing her little tail off. I acknowledge this all while trying to figure out what in the world she's saying. I do, however, have it on great authority that she is actually singing the words "Bweak Fwee" instead of "Break Free." (Go ahead, listen.)
6. Wanting to roll your windows down and imitate flying while Sia sings Chandelier, only works when it's not raining. (See: tornado watch)
7. I'm pretty sure Ed Sheeran wants to date me. (See: how he sings pretty much ANY song)
8. That Clean Bandit song "Rather Be" featuring Jesse Glynne might make one speed. (See: Highway Patrol)
9. A lot of songs sound the same. (See: A lot of songs)
10. Some songs seem so fun until you figure out what they're really singing about. (See: A lot of songs)
What genre should I dive into next? Anything but country. I know I live in Nashville, but I just can't…unless they're playing Carrie Underwood's "Something In The Water" on repeat.
