Democrat Jon Ossoff lashed out at Republican attacks that accuse his family of using loopholes to avoid paying taxes and falsely claiming he owns multiple yachts.

Two GOP groups pounced on a Dunwoody Crier report that cited information from "Ossoff researchers" who claimed his family uses limited liability corporations to shield themselves from paying taxes. It sounded much like attacks from Democratic groups targeting Donald Trump's use of tax loopholes.

The National Republican Congressional Campaign immediately sent a blast headlined "paying taxes – not for the Ossoffs?" The conservative America Rising PAC followed up with a web hit calling him a "hypocrite when it comes to his family's money."

The Ossoff campaign moved swiftly to rebut the attacks, calling them “lies” in a point-by-point breakdown. In an interview Wednesday, Ossoff said the allegations are “absolutely” untrue.

“It speaks to the cynicism and desperation of career partisans that they are launching defamatory attacks on my family in order to score some type of cheap shot against my family,” he said.

His campaign said the groups provided no evidence that Ossoff’s family evaded taxes, adding that it is “unconscionable to say that Ossoff’s family committed a crime without evidence.”
