Cleveland – Two former Donald Trump opponents were summoned to speak at Tuesday's installment of the Republican National Convention. And both spent more time attacking Hillary Clinton than boosting the GOP nominee.
After all, there’s nothing that seems to unite the fractured GOP more than the New York Democrat.
Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson directed his message to the Trump skeptics in the convention hall and watching at home. Refusing to back Trump, he said, will result in far more than another Clinton in the White House.
“They’re not using their God-given brain to think about what they’re saying. It won’t just be eight years. She’ll be appointing people who will affect us for generations. And America may never recover.”
And New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie used his primetime speech to excoriate Clinton’s record as Barack Obama’s secretary of state, asking the delegates after each attack: “Is she guilty or not guilty?”
“Guilty,” the crowd bellowed.
