Tuesday is Eggs and Issues Day. The annual Georgia Chamber of Commerce event puts Gov. Nathan Deal, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, and House Speaker David Ralston in front of a business-minded crowd hungry for a particular type of news.

Last year the three top leaders announced they would support the big transportation funding bill that business leaders had pushed hard for.

This year, that bill is still very much on the minds of state leaders who continue to take heat for the tax increases that went with it. Deal is likely to talk up the benefits of the law at breakfast and at an 11:45 Capitol press conference.

Lawmakers will convene at 10 a.m. They are still getting their respective chambers in order, so little action is expected. The most interesting news of the day (at least to drinkers and the businesses that support them) is the expected filing of a massive rewrite of the state's three-tier system of alcohol sales.

This proposed revision comes amid growing frustration from key lawmakers about a Department of Revenue decision to limit brewers' ability to sell their products to consumers. It could yet another signal from members of the House and Senate who believe the department over-stepped its bounds by imposing new regulations on craft brewers in September.

Also, be sure to wish the lieutenant governor a happy birthday. We hear it’s the Big 5-0.
