If a pair of events on a single Saturday are a measure of how two Republican presidential candidates in Georgia will fair next week – well, let's just say that Marco Rubio had a good day.

Above is a photo of the Rubio event in Cobb County. The grandstands have a capacity of 3,000, according to David Tilley, headmaster of Mount Paran Christian School. They were full. The crowd on the field was slightly smaller, so let’s put the crowd at between 4,500 and 5,000. (The campaign's official count was 7,000.)

The Ted Cruz event at Liberty Park across from the state Capitol, by contrast, was significantly smaller. Two reporters who were there, including the AJC’s Dan Chapman, put the audience at several hundred -- but well below 1,000.

Below is the best crowd shot we’ve found of the Cruz event. Please feel free to enlarge and do the counting yourself.

Also, bear in mind that Donald Trump drew 6,300 to a rally in downtown Atlanta on Sunday.
