After a week of uncharacteristically upbeat budget hearings, the full House and Senate will be back in formal session on Monday, and the machinery of the Legislature will begin the real process of cranking into gear.

The House and Senate will convene at 10 a.m. No bills are far along enough to debate in either chamber, but lawmakers will pray, recognize guests, and introduce bills so they can be assigned to committees.

They will also continue the search for a politically viable formula for increasing transportation dollars in Georgia -- mostly behind closed doors.

In the House, Rep. Allen Peake, R-Macon, will officially introduce House Bill 1, his medical marijuana bill, which has been denuded after negotiations with Gov. Nathan Deal.

Instead of creating a state program to grow and cultivate the cannabis oil, Peake's bill will only offer immunity from prosecution for Georgians who legally possess the drug, which may be used under the proposal for a variety of disorders. Peake will have a news conference at 1 p.m.
