At 3 p.m. today, I'll be on-air with Bill Nigut on GPB's hourlong "Political Rewind" show on 88.5FM.

We’ll be talking about the week’s news, including comments by Sandy Spring Mayor Rusty Paul – a former chairman of the state GOP -- that the region needs to embrace transit if it is to thrive.

But on another topic, here's a tidbit just to get you interested: Nigut followed up on Thursday's Insider column on that meeting of the Kennesaw City Council and its rejection of a storefront mosque.

Here's a portion of Nigut's interview with Mark Mathews, in which the Kennesaw mayor indicates he and his colleagues are rethinking the matter. My AJC colleague David Wickert is working the story as well, and says attention from the U.S. Justice Department may be what's behind Kennesaw's rethinking of the matter.

Listen to Nigut's interview here:

Said Matthews:

"As information comes forward, and as things progress, I fully expect that we'll be revisiting this in the very near future, and that we'll have some sort of resolution in the very near future."

Nigut pressed, and Mathews continued:

"There has been some discussion. I don't know for sure, but there's been some discussion that that may happen. If so, it would need to be put on the agenda and probably announced at our work session on next Wednesday."
