Georgia Democrats are trying to turn a series of Brian Kemp's own ads against him in a closing attack in the race for governor.

The state party released a 30-second TV ad on Monday that features all of the greatest hits from the GOP primary: The pickup truck, shotgun, explosion and chainsaw clips that helped him win the Republican nomination for governor but Kemp’s tried to make a distant memory in the general.

It starts with a series of actors sitting on the bed of a pickup, evoking memories of his ad saying he’d “round up criminal illegals” in his truck if he could.

Each highlight an Atlanta Journal-Constitution investigation that revealed Kemp said some variation of "I don't recall" 91 times in a deposition over a $500,000 loan he's accused of not repaying.

Then it mentions questions about his office's oversight of massage parlors and the TV ad showing him pointing a shotgun told his daughter's date, before flashing to images of explosions and the regulation-cutting chainsaw he had displayed in earlier spots.

Three times it cut in with clips of Kemp smiling in the camera, saying “Yep,” from the pickup truck ad.

The ad comes in the final week before Kemp’s Nov. 6 race against Democrat Stacey Abrams, who is also being pummeled on TV with her own words.

Kemp and state Republicans have unleashed a series of ads using clips of her comments and gaffes on the campaign trail to rev up his supporters.
