Atlanta is in the running to host the Democratic National Convention in 2016, but so far it's a big field. CNN reports that 34 cities received letters from the DNC gauging their interest in hosting the bash:

"We are seriously considering moving forward in the bid process, and we are honored to be in the running," said Melissa Mullinax, spokeswoman for Mayor Kasim Reed. "Atlanta is a great city."

Atlanta is nowhere near as far along as Columbus, Ohio, which has a swanky brochure and is hosting a reception at the Capital Hilton in D.C. on Thursday, where Ohio's Democratic muckety-mucks can tout its bid.
