"If Young Metro don't trust you, I'm [going to] shoot you."
It's doubtful that Future, the rapper who delivers the phrase at the beginning of several songs produced by Boomin, is going to actually shoot someone because the DJ distrusts them. But, it's become pretty popular nonetheless.
And a new use of the tag line is sure to stir up some controversy.
"Young Metro Don't Trust Donald Trump." At least that's the name of the concert that the 23-year old producer is planning to throw on election day (Nov. 4). The event will take place in New York at Playstation Theater, but it wouldn't be surprising if several Atlanta rappers made an appearance during the show.
"With the election coming, I think it's time to speak out, and not like speak out by getting extra political with this [expletive], but let people know," Boomin told Complex regarding the event. "So letting y'all know I don't trust him, you don't trust him and go ahead and celebrate that. And also, people love coming to concerts and coming together, though at the same time it's not all about that, but sharing the message and the same view. With it so close to the election, I thought, let's have this concert and celebrate this and all agree that we can't have this guy as our President."
According to the Metro Boomin's twitter account, proceeds from the event will send a St. Louis high school senior to Morehouse College. It's a tradition the musician says he plans to continue even after the election is over.
