According to a new poll released over the weekend, Donald Trump has a 1-point lead over Hillary Clinton here in Georgia, a state that Mitt Romney won easily in 2012.

The only reason that Trump is even competitive in the WSB-TV poll is because he leads by 11 percentage points among voters 65 and older. He trails in every other age group. He has a 35-point margin among white Georgians, but trails by 64 points among black voters and by 26 points among voters of other groups.

Among women, Trump trails in Georgia by 5.3 percentage points, which sounds bad until you compare it to national polling. In the CNN poll released last week, Trump trailed among female voters by 26 points.

In an speech Saturday in Washington state, Trump probably dug that hole a little bit deeper:

In case you can't watch the video, here's the statement, over Mother's Day weekend no less:

“I mean all of the men, we’re petrified to speak to women anymore. We may raise our voice. You know what, the women get it better than we do, folks. Look, we’re living in the real world. This political correctness is killing our country.”

Trump is the candidate for all you mighty he-men out there too petrified to speak to women, all you men who want to raise your voice to your women-folk but who quiver in fear at what might happen if you dare to do so. All you men who believe that women have it better than you do? Trump is the man who's going to fix it for you. Here in Georgia, that's apparently 45.9 percent of our adult male voting population.

In fact, here's a little foretaste of the 2016 GOP convention in Cleveland:

Most boys grow out of that.
