A group of 50 top Republican foreign policy and national security officials who have served in high positions under GOP presidents released a devastatingly candid joint statement Monday explaining why they believe that Donald Trump is not fit to serve as our nation's commander in chief.

If elected, they warned, Trump would be "the most reckless president in U.S. history."

The signers made it clear that their united opposition was not based on specific policy differences with Trump, although such differences are undoubtedly significant and real. Instead, they wrote, their refusal is based on the conviction that "he would be a dangerous president and would put at risk our country’s national security and well-being."

Here is an excerpt of the letter (the list of signees is attached at the end of this link):

On policy matters, I disagree with most of the people who signed the statement. But again, they haven't based their conclusions on matters of policy. They do so on the basis of  character, temperament, values, comprehension of constitutional limits and moral decency.

People like this don't make such statements lightly. If you're concerned about the future of your country, you shouldn't take such statements lightly.
