Opinion: Sing it, Rhiannon

Here's a beautiful song, written originally by Roebuck "Pops" Staples of the Staples Singers back in 1965, performed in this brand new version by the great Rhiannon Giddens.

I make it a rule not to post political material on my Friday music post, and in this case I'm assuming that after 50-plus years, neither the song nor its message remain controversial, but instead reflect our common heritage and values.

So don't disappoint.
