Last month, two beautiful young ladies whom I've known since they were newborns -- both of them daughters of some of our closest friends -- themselves gave birth to beautiful baby daughters, the first in the new generation among our circle of friends. In the process, of course, they also turned their parents into grandparents, one of the major transition points in the human experience.

So, in celebration of the births of Sophia and Elsie, here's Stevie Wonder singing about the joy he felt at the birth of his daughter from his classic 1976 album Songs in the Key of Life:

Back in the day, I played that album so often that I have every note memorized. Stevie just announced that he will be doing an 11-city tour featuring songs from that historic album, and one of those cities will be Atlanta (Nov. 22). Tickets go on sale Sept. 20, and I'm betting they go fast.

(And yes, now that you mention it, the song's lyrics also can be applied to our lovely new blog.)
