Dahlonega's Holly Theatre is receiving a $10,000 grant from the Fox Theatre Institute.

The Fox Theatre Institute announced Tuesday that it has awarded a $10,000 2014-15 preservation grant to the Holly Theatre in Dahlonega.

The funds from FTI, a nonprofit arm of the historic Peachtree Street theater offering preservation and operations advice to Georgia arts venues, will go toward masonry improvements on three sides of the 1948 theater and the repainting of its original marquee, which will be retrofitted with LED lighting.

The project is expected to be completed by June 30.

The Fox funding is helping leverage additional private and public support for Holly Theatre restoration, according to Joel Cordle of Dahlonega’s Main Street program.
