ATHENS – We interrupt all this grousing over a receiver Georgia didn't get to remind you about one that did sign with the Bulldogs.
Jayson Stanley was a rated a 4-star recruit when he suffered a season-ending knee injury back in August. As a junior at Creekside High, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound athlete caught 41 passes for 817 yards and 16 touchdowns while leading his team Class AAAAA state championship. He was rated the state's No. 22 overall college football prospect at the time.
Stanley was one of the first to pledge to the Bulldogs and he was the first wideout to sign on Wednesday.
After injuring his knee, Georgia coach Mark Richt was the first to call Stanley to offer comfort and assure him that his scholarship offer remained intact.
“Kudos to the University of Georgia for embracing Jayson and our family,” said his mother, Yvette Stanley. “We are blown away by the love they have shown to us.”
