A small act of kindness goes a long way. Now, people everywhere are taking notice of a nice gesture that was caught in a photo and posted online.
In the photo, Godfrey Cuotto is seen holding hands with another man on a bus. The man, said to be named Robert, has special needs.
The stranger that posted the photo wrote, “I (don’t) know if (you) can post this, but I would (like) to say thank you to the guy who was (sitting) beside a special needs gentleman. He allowed him to hold his hand and find comfort (on) a packed bus. It (makes) my day when I see stuff like that.”
Cuotto told Huffington Post that he was on his way home from a restaurant when he got on the bus and a man sitting near the front wanted to shake his hand. A little taken aback at first, the McMaster University student says he then shook Robert's hand.
"He kept holding my hand," Cuotto said. "I thought I was getting pranked at first, but he just needed comfort."
Cuotto rode the bus for 30 minutes, allowing Robert to hold and kiss his hands, lean on him and hug him.
"I just allowed it," Cuotto said. "Sometimes you just have to be selfless and put someone else's needs above yours."
A family member of Robert's later reached out to Cuotto on Facebook and thanked him for comforting his uncle. He also told Cuotto that Robert suffers from cerebral palsy and is deaf.
Cuotto later told Kiss 92.5 that he stayed with Robert until the last stop on the bus route.
He told the station he attributes his kindness to his mom.
