The Komodo Dragon is now making its hot presence known in the produce aisles.
It's not a lizard, but rather the UK's hottest commercially grown chili pepper, The Guardian reported.
It measures 1.4 million Scoville units, the official chart of how hot peppers are.
To put it into perspective, a jalapeno is about 2,500 Scoville units. A bell pepper is a 0 and a habanero is between 100,000 and 350,000.
The Komodo Dragon has an unusual trait compared to other peppers. It has a delayed reaction, The Guardian reported.
"At first you can taste a wonderful hot fruitiness, but after about 10 seconds the full might of this little demon hits you and your whole mouth is aglow," Eleanor Mansell said. "This is definitely a chili pepper for connoisseurs and for those who are experienced in eating super-hot food."
