A couple is going viral after fighting hate with love, according to a social media post.

Jarred Wall and his fiancee were enjoying tea at a Perth, Australia, cafe when he overheard two older women talking about Aboriginal people.

"The first part of the conversation started with basically one of them saying 'He got into power because of the colour of his skin' and it escalated from there," Wall told Australian Broadcasting Corporation Local Radio.

"I could have unleashed a tirade of abuse, but that wouldn't have helped," Wall wrote in a now-viral Facebook post that has been shared more than 2,500 times.

But Wall treated the women to a pot of tea and a note instead.

"Enjoy the tea! Compliments of the 2 aboriginals sitting next to you on table 26," Wall wrote on the bill, including the hastags #BlackLivesMatter and #EnglishBreakfastTea.

"It is hard to sit there when you can clearly hear something that does not sit well with you really, and I did not want to just sit there and say nothing, but I did not want to go over there and cause a scene," he told ABC Local Radio.

Wall hopes the moment humbles the women.

"They probably did not realise that I was Aboriginal. I am sure they have had their own experiences and their own things that have happened in life that might have caused them to have such a view.
"But not every book is the same."

Wall said he watched the ladies' reaction from afar, but did not stay to watch for long.

"By that time the kids were getting a bit antsy so we went down to the park," he told ABC Local Radio. "I could see the gist of how their reactions were."

"I hope they had a great day and a nice lunch," he said. "I just want people to think more before they speak."

"Hopefully there won’t be a next time."
