There's a legend in Argentina that the seventh son in a family turns into "el lobison," which is, for lack of a better phrase, a demonic werewolf.
The Independent reports that to quash fears of this happening, Argentinian President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner adopted Yair Tawil as her godson.
In the 19th century, the practice of abandoning or killing baby boys that fit the criteria of "el lobison" was so widespread that Argentinian presidents began adopting boys, and girls, as godsons and goddaughters.
It's not just ceremonial. The adopted children get a gold medal and full scholarship.
