An Uber driver in Arizona faces backlash for wearing a pasta strainer in his license photo, which he says is for religious purposes.
After Sean Corbett got approval at a local MVD to take a picture with the strainer, state officials now say his head wear "won't be allowed," ABC 15 reports.
Corbett’s religion, called “Pastafarianism,” preaches the belief that Earth was created 5,000 years ago by a Flying Spaghetti Monster.
It took two years for Corbett to find an MVD that would allow him to wear the strainer in his ID photo, which he defines as “religious head wear,” according to ABC 15.
"This has been this type of discrimination, and religious persecution that I've been going through for the last couple of years," said Corbett to ABC 15.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said to ABC 15 that Corbett’s “type of display” does not fit as one of the exceptions made for religious and medical needs.
