Many of today's familiar sights in Atlanta began as an artist rendering on someone's drafting table. Here are some images taken from the Georgia State University Library's Planning Atlanta collection and from AJC news reports also found in the GSU Library Digital Collection. Special thanks to Darin Givens (@ATLUrbanist) of ThreadATL.org for bringing some of these gems to light. First up: TURNER FIELD (undated): This view from above the future Hank Aaron Drive supposes what the Olympic Stadium would look like once converted to a Major League ballpark. The semicircle plaza would become more of an entrance gate area and fan pavilion than the green park shown here. Also missing is the giant image of Hank Aaron's "715" ball.
