Last Supper cartoon offensive to Christians
Holy Week is the most solemn, sacred time in Christianity leading up to Easter, and the AJC runs a cartoon by Mike Luckovich (April 1), depicting Jesus and the Last Supper in a misrepresentation of RFRA and of the apostles. Those who preach tolerance are, in fact, the most intolerant of people of faith. Christians are being persecuted all over the world because of their beliefs and this is one more example. The AJC would better serve its readers by not running cartoons that mock Buddha, Mohammad or Jesus Christ and apologize to its readers for the offense given Christians by publishing this particular cartoon.

Disgusted by prison health care
After reading the article on the two prison deaths that occurred while being under the supposed “care” of Dr. Yvon Nazaire (News, March 29) , I am absolutely horrified and disgusted. Hopefully, this expose’ will provide the impetus needed to actually hire caregivers as opposed to budget managers. Kudos to Marilyn Ringstaff APRN for practicing compassionate, competent care. Rest easy in knowing you did your best. Might I suggest that, going forward, warden Alexis Chase, and Georgia Correctional Health Care medical directors Dr. Edward Bailey and Dr. Billy Nichols seek your personal healthcare needs from Dr. Nazaire?

‘Death panels’ made clear
I remember some years ago there was a story in the AJC saying that if they didn’t expand Medicaid, there were a number of hospitals that would fail in our state. Now a few weeks ago I read in the AJC that a number of these hospitals have failed in our rural areas and in some places it now takes over an hour to get to a hospital. In the latest story in the AJC, it said that a number of people have died because it took too long to get them to the hospital. Who knew that back when Republicans were talking about death panels that they were talking about themselves in the form of not expanding Medicaid.

Slain officer’s family gives thanks
The family of the late Fulton County Det. Terence A. Green commend The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and other media for their coverage of our son, who was murdered March 4. Your coverage was gracious, and added to his memory.
We also appreciate the Fulton County Police Department and the other law enforcement jurisdictions that commemorated Terence’s life with such touching arrays of cadence and regalia. The presence of these unified police forces at his funeral honored the service our son gave as a member of law enforcement.
The comforting words of the Fulton County Police Chaplain, along with Rev. T. Mosely (Woods Memorial Baptist Church), and Rev. Reginald Morton (Faith A.M.E. Zion Church) expressed consoling words to our family. We also acknowledge Rev. Creflo Dollar for his generosity in allowing the funeral to be held at World Changers Church International.
In addition, we are grateful to the Georgia State Senate for honoring our beloved son posthumously. The Green family also gives thanks and well wishes to the many police officers, political leaders, citizens, and friends who expressed endearing, heartfelt condolences to us. The graciousness of all involved during this difficult time will never be forgotten.
