ELECTION 2012
Republicans care more about winning
The greatest obstacle to President Obama’s re-election is the perception that he hasn’t done enough to improve the economy. Voters weighing this argument need to remember two points.
Although the economy hasn’t improved as much as we would like under Obama, by any measure it has improved. Republicans who deny that are lying.
More importantly, congressional Republicans have blocked nearly all of Obama’s efforts to boost the economy, so that they could turn around and blame him for its slow recovery. They don’t care if you lose your job, your home or your health care. They care about winning. It’s a cynical ploy — and if voters are gullible and uninformed enough to fall for it, our democracy faces peril.

ELECTION 2012
Vote for the right man in November election
I’ve never been this interested in politics before, but I fear for this country and its direction. We will soon elect a president. God bless this country to make the right choice.
My choice for president is a man who will govern this country by the laws of the land — not a president who wants to rule this country and change it from the values that made it great.
I want a president who will extend his hand to help — not extend it with handouts. I want a president who made his way in this country, got an education, abided by the laws and worked hard.
I want a president who sees no color — only the hearts and souls of those who work hard and want to raise their level in life.
I want a president who will say to immigrants, “Welcome to America. You have entered the greatest country in the world. These are our laws. We live by them and you must do the same.”
In November, if you know of such a man, vote for him!

SHERIFF ELECTION
Clayton County voters may be better off
Voters in Clayton County have gotten bad publicity (and deservedly so) over the election of Victor Hill as sheriff once again. As a resident of the county, I truly cannot understand how voters could in good conscience put a person with his record back in office. However, Kem Kimbrough brought baggage of his own from his term, so it was not a clear-cut decision by any means.
Another candidate would probably have been better than either, but the runoff was between these two, and voters made their decision. In the long run, selecting Hill over Kimbrough may produce the best final outcome — since it is questionable whether Hill will be permitted to assume office again (given his legal difficulties). This could result in the county winding up with a sheriff who is better than either of these guys. We could be much better off.
