Relief for families
Congratulations to the Navy SEALs!
I worked at the World Trade Center for Citigroup Asset Management on Sept. 11, 2001. I survived that day.
I hope that the death of bin Laden has brought the families of those who lost a family member some sort of relief.

Prepare for retaliation
We have one less madman on this Earth — one less cowardly warmonger hiding out. The thing is, there are many more eager to take his place, each filled with the hate that has been a staple in their diet since birth. These extremists will be all too happy to galvanize, and avenge bin Laden’s death. We have one less terrorist, but more walk among us here, and everywhere. Other nations have fallen to radical Islam, and have fallen under the sword. The ultimate prize for these bullies would be to subjugate the entire Western world and bring it to its knees. America, are we ready?

Give proper credit
For President Barack Obama to present the death of Osama bin Laden as an act of his making is an act of arrogance; a raw political act. If Obama deserves any credit, it is because he did not interfere with ongoing programs to identify bin Laden’s location in Pakistan.
Actually, all credit belongs to American forces acting (in spite of substantial Pakistani interference) against a murderer.

How to defeat tyranny
Perhaps the alleged assassination of Osama bin Laden by U.S. forces in Pakistan will give the U.S. an opportunity to increase its efforts to reduce the influence of the more radical elements in Islamic society, by taking a more even-handed approach to resolving the Israeli-Palestinian debacle in the Middle East.
The creation of the political entity called Israel stands as a sad reminder of the ill-conceived and unsatisfactory decision by an international “committee of the whole” to resolve alleged acts of genocide. The U.S. (and many of its allies) has been taken down a path of ever-declining relations with the Islamic world. Let’s “celebrate” the demise of Obama bin Laden by quietly rededicating ourselves to the causes of cooperation; peace, and reconciliation among the autonomous peoples of the world and their legitimately constituted nation states. This just might solve some of our more tedious international problems — from energy, to security threats — and it might help to discredit the flawed philosophy that war is the only way to confront and defeat tyranny.
