Both Deal, McKillip ought to be ashamed
Gov. Nathan Deal should be embarrassed.
He has signed a bill (HB 954) based on bad science, a bill that will harm women and a bill that was brought to the floor to further the political ambitions of its sponsor.
The Republican Party claims to be the party of smaller government and that it wants to “get out of the way” and let people pursue their dreams.
Yet this bill does exactly the opposite: It legislates government intrusion in American lives.
Deal and Rep. Doug McKillip ought to be ashamed.

Patients, families, staff benefit every day
I would like to take the opportunity during National Nurses Week (which runs through Saturday) to honor the many talented and compassionate nurses who serve patients and residents at our center, and elsewhere.
Many of our residents consider the nursing staff a part of their family.
Our nurses (and nurses throughout our community) make a difference every day not only through the medical care they provide, but also through the hands they have held and the hugs they have given.
We are truly appreciative of our nurses’ uncompromising commitment to providing quality care for our patients, their families and our staff.
Please join me in recognizing and thanking our community’s nurses for all that they do.

Government power abuses the deserving
“Fair” is a uniquely human concept. “Fair” doesn’t exist in nature. “Fair” will always be subjective and what is considered “fair” will often differ between two observers.
How will it ever be “fair” to use the power of government to take from one who has earned something and give it to someone who hasn’t?

Thank you for living up to a very high standard
The AJC articles about public school officials who cheat to achieve artificial “academic turnarounds” must be just what the framers had in mind when they included the free press guarantee in the First Amendment.
Congratulations — and thanks for living up to a very high standard.

Where are Homeland Security, TSA plans?
If, as President Barack Obama says, al-Qaida has been emasculated, why must we continue to support the TSA and Department of Homeland Security?
Why aren’t plans in place to disband them?
