VICTOR HILL
Clayton County is a big laughing stock
I have been a fan of Mike Luckovich for many years. His cartoon of John Walsh on Victor Hill (Opinion, Aug. 23) was one of the best he has ever done. As a 35-year resident of Clayton County, I have seen many things happen here during elections. The runoff election for sheriff between Kem Kimbrough and Hill takes the cake. I am ashamed, appalled and amazed that my fellow citizens returned Hill to office, even though he has 37 felony charges pending against him. This just shows the caliber of people who reside here.
Clayton County is the laughing stock of the state and the nation because of all this. May the good Lord look over all of us in Clayton County if Hill is ever vindicated.

Good time to replace Biden with Clinton
I am following up on the letter to the editor, “Looks as if Obama’s stuck with Joltin’ Joe” (Readers write, Opinion, Aug. 21). I think there is still time to replace Joe Biden with Hillary Clinton. It would be a smart move on President Obama’s part to counteract Mitt Romney’s move to Paul Ryan. Since Clinton is not going to extend her secretary of state job, she would be perfect. She knows health care, and fixes are needed that she can handle. She knows foreign policy. She is a former first lady, so she knows the ins and outs.
This would be an opportune time to groom her for the presidency (if Obama gets elected). I’m sure “Uncle” Joe would understand.

ELECTION 2012
Vote for same people, watch state decline
This November, Georgia citizens will probably waste another opportunity to improve our lives. In a decade, Georgia has descended from being a vibrant state to one of the highest states in unemployment. Georgia congressmen stumble on each other to say the most radical and outrageous lies.
Yet, we keep electing the same people. They’ll blame President Obama for the high unemployment rate in Georgia, regardless of the party in power. They’re more interested in anti-abortion legislation than in improving the lot of children already born. And, they’ll promise not to raise taxes, while cutting funds to municipalities (which are forced to increase taxes). So, dear neighbors, continue to vote for the same corrupt and incompetent people — and see our state continue to decline.

Time to end blame game; just fix problems
Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright tells of answering a questioner who asked how much longer the Democrats are going to blame former President Bush for their continuing troubles. She said, “Forever!”
Unfortunately, this does not satisfactorily explain President Obama’s failure to turn around the economy. I have been a business-turnaround specialist for over 35 years. Whenever I go in to restructure a troubled company, I know I inherited a mess, and it’s almost always worse than I had expected. But, the people who hired me don’t want to hear me complain about that. They just want me to fix it.
