Hatred, anger a threat to world peace
Whilst America focuses almost completely on Donald Trump and his 1920s-style campaign of anger and hatred, the darling of Russia, Vladimir Putin is quietly moving his military might out of Syria. Won’t we all be surprised when we find the erstwhile Russian emperor re-deploying his forces once again along the eastern border of Ukraine, ready for a new summer initiative.
Let’s not be fooled by this evil genius who is leading the western world a merry dance, as he interferes everywhere in his effort to rebuild the Soviet motherland. It’s no coincidence that he is doing this whilst we all are watching with dismay the rebirth of a brown-shirt movement, but this time in our own country. Our history has shown we are not immune to the hateful call of prejudice and this trend, fulminated by the racism, anger, and ignorance of Trump could easily grow into a major threat to world peace. A direction that would fit nicely into Putin’s plans. Let’s not be so stupid as to let this happen. It’s time for cooler heads to prevail.

Pitts out of line for use of ‘bigot’
It was with complete shock that I read the first part of Leonard Pitts column (“Defeating Trump won’t end bigotry, fear, racism” Opinion, Mar. 13), then glanced at his paragraph on “bigotry.” For someone who should know better than to use words they do not understand, he really comes across as the bigger bigot than Trump. For his information, if you look the word “bigot” up in the dictionary, it will state that the word means; “A person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief or opinion.” By using this word in his definition of Trump and the accompanying words, not just for Trump, but all of his supporters as well: what does that make Pitts? Just what are you Pitts, that you can use such language against another person?
