HERO, APD show professionalism

This past Saturday, our daughter was involved in a fender bender on the very congested Downtown Connector. Within a couple of minutes, a HERO worker arrived and with great finesse, stopped all traffic while the three vehicles involved moved to the far right shoulder. An Atlanta police officer soon arrived to take control of the situation. She was a pro beginning to end!

As parents, we also want to also share our appreciation for the hundreds of vehicles that voluntarily followed the Georgia Move Over Law. This collective effort ensured the safety of all. A crash is one thing, but what happens in the moments following can drastically determine outcomes. Our child returned home safely because of the policies and procedures our governing bodies have put into place.

Continue theme: honor the innocents

I agree with “Honor the innocents” (Opinion, June 21). In the spirit of the obligation, your final sentence says, “Honor the innocents and tend to the work they bequeathed.” I urge you to follow up with more detail. You assert that “for much of his adult life, Roof has lived in a world where respected men and women portray our world as having been conquered by an alien force … in need of liberation by force.”

Fair enough, but list specific examples from all viewpoints and even internationally, the thought being individual coverage over time does not have the impact that quoting them side by side might have. Specific words prove your point and give us pause. That would also be an editorial worth reading and sharing with others.

Marriage is simply a matter of biology

The homosexuality discussion need center not on holiness, but humanity. Honor the biology. We are made as man and woman; that is how humanity continues and how our bodies are made to function. The glut of homosexuality and other sexual variances we see are not natural or normal, nor is it the same as the rare cases of hermaphroditism or ambiguous genitalia. If people want to live in same-sex relationships, this is America; they can. Civil unions, fine. But such aberration should not be accepted as normal, forced down our throats in practically every TV, movie or book we see; nor should the noble institution of marriage be altered to accommodate anything that goes against our biology.
