Ga. needs best voting system, not the cheapest
Citizens who propose a paper-only voting system forget a paper-only system is vulnerable to several types of voter errors: over-voting, or voting for too many candidates for an office; under-voting, or not voting for some offices; and stray marks and incomplete marking that make the voter’s choice unclear. All of these have happened in other states that use paper ballots. An electronic paper ballot marking system can prevent over-voting, incomplete marking and stray marks. It can alert the voter to under-voting before the vote is cast. An electronic paper ballot marking system can allow the voter to check the paper ballot to make sure it is correct before it is cast. The paper ballot provides evidence to prevent electronic tampering. Georgia deserves the best voting system, not the cheapest.

Ga. deserves a better caliber of political leaders
I don’t know if I ever lived anywhere where politicians showed more disdain for the citizens than in Georgia. In Feb. 22’s AJC, two front-page stories demonstrate this perfectly (“Daughter got $100K state job before Deal exit,” and “Republican seeks to oust Ralston”). Former Gov. Nathan Deal gets his daughter a six-figure position at the Georgia Lottery. As if she’s the only qualified applicant! Second, Georgia’s House speaker was shown to have seemingly abused his position to let people accused of being violent criminals run the streets by postponing their trials seemingly forever. Yet the voters do nothing! And it’s not just at the Gold Dome. The city of Atlanta does the same thing. It has a record of decades’ worth of corruption and crooked politicians. Yet the voters willingly accept and elect politicians who desperately lack honesty and integrity. I’ll never understand why. Come on, Georgia. Certainly you can find better people to elect than the crooks we have now. It’s appalling!
