Response to “Be thankful you’re not having the Cheneys over” Opinion, Nov. 24
Maureen Dowd wonders in a recent column what on earth makes Liz Cheney qualified to be a senator. What on earth made Barack Obama qualified to be a senator — and then president of the United States? Was it his impressive resume as a community organizer?
Ms. Dowd also asks why Ms. Cheney didn’t simply run in her real home state of Virginia. Has Ms. Dowd forgotten about Hillary Clinton pretending to be a New Yorker before she ran for senator? It appears as if Ms. Dowd has a very short (and selective) memory.

Stadium plan ignores fans riding MARTA
I have read the articles about the Atlanta Braves moving, but not one mention of the fact that many of us take public transportation to the games via MARTA. That — combined with the fact that Cobb County refused MARTA, making the county a public transportation desert — should bar them from being a location for the stadium.
If they want it, it should be part of the agreement that they get on board here with a MARTA extension. Not only would this requirement mitigate the traffic fiasco; it would also improve transportation issues throughout the city.
The county should be required to have a MARTA connector built that delivers the same access Turner Field has to the city at large. It seems Cobb doesn’t want to play ball; it wants to take the ball, and leave the rest of us to “Brave” the traffic fiasco.

With transit, N. Fulton better site for ballpark
A recent AJC sports page led off with “McCann takes Yankees’ cash” (Nov. 24). Good for Brian McCann.
However, as a Cobb County resident who rarely goes to Braves games, I ask: Why should I be forced to subsidize the livelihood of employees of a professional entertainment company? I don’t want to do so, and I don’t want the increased traffic. I also query why the Cobb deal had to happen so quickly, and why it was sprung on everyone with little time to consider.
It would seem that north Fulton County, near the existing MARTA rail line, would be a much more logical place to put a stadium.

AIR TRAVEL
Paulding can relieve Hartsfield congestion
A word for Atlanta metro residents: Do you really want Atlanta’s airport to grow?
Just remember: The busier Hartsfield gets, the more air space its jets need. Eventually, this means you end up having business jets screaming at your home’s roof-top level. Why not encourage Paulding County to take some flights instead?
