Cheerleaders shouldn’t protest in uniform

While I am an ardent supporter of freedom of speech, I feel the Kennesaw State cheerleaders taking a knee during the playing of the national anthem is entirely inappropriate. If they, or any students for that matter, want to conduct a peaceful demonstration on campus that’s fine. But while they are in uniform representing the university at an athletic event, players, coaches and cheerleaders should be held accountable for their behavior. Does anyone really believe that a Delta or UPS employee in uniform and on the job can stage a political protest and not get fired? Why should athletes and cheerleaders, amateur or pro, be treated differently?

Perdue should not support Moore

The media has reached out to Republican senators for their reaction to the Roy Moore accusations. These accusations include a district attorney, in his 30’s, reportedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl and stalking other teenage girls, including phone calls to one teenage girl’s school asking for a date. The evidence is mounting, and his wife was a classmate of one of these teenage girls he reportedly stalked. The evidence is in the high school yearbook linking the two teenage girls, one he reportedly stalked, the other he married.

U.S. Sen. David Perdue has said, “it’s early, we don’t know all the facts, obviously.” U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson said, “Moore should step down.” I’m not sure what else Perdue needs to convince him that we don’t need another accused sexual predator in a position of incredible power. Sen. Perdue, the evidence is overwhelming; please consider it, and reconsider your position.
