GOP blinded by its hatred of Obama

Regarding “Obama’s Iran ‘agreement’ is a dangerous charade” (Opinion, April 8), Thomas Sowell writes, “It takes two to agree — and Iran has already publicly disputed and even mocked what President Obama says is the nature of that framework.” Yet, what have the Republicans (and their friends in the media) been doing around the clock? They have “already publicly disputed and even mocked what President Obama says is the nature of that framework.” Forty-seven percent of the United States senators (including the two from Georgia) sent a letter to Iran actually telling them not to trust the President of the United States. Has the Republicans’ blind hatred of Obama overwhelmed their love of country?

APS convicted don’t deserve prison

Regarding the last two editorials about the APS trial. I can tell you with a very clear conscience that we cannot put these people in prison. The horrific and deadly situations they will encounter as they process through Jackson Diagnostics, then being sent to their “camp” is a very disturbing process. The toll on them and their loved ones is one that is rarely discussed. Having a son in prison has given me a glimpse into a world that very few understand. Are we afraid of them or are we angry at them. That is how we should address sentencing.

Cheaters don’t merit mercy

I am astonished and sickened by the Editorial Board’s plea for mercy and compassion for a group of “educators” who chose to put their careers and financial gain above the very children they were hired serve. Their cheating was not a brief lapse of judgment, but a systematic, sustained, and collaborative effort. These former educators willfully failed these children, some of the most vulnerable among us, and then covered it up and denied it —for years. Can the damage to these children and their families “be measured at most in months or single-digit sums of years”?
