Working toward clean energy is pro-life

I have been a Republican most of my life. I am strongly pro-life, and I strongly believe in a balanced budget for our country. I also have three sons, and as I look at them and think of their future, and the future of countless generations to come, I am appalled that the Republican party can ignore the scientific facts of climate change and risk endangering the lives of billions of people for generations to come. That is as anti-life as it comes. Now, countless studies also show us that converting to clean energy will benefit America economically. I appeal to all fellow Americans who would love to support the Republican party but cannot for this reason. Let us unite and call on our party leaders to stand up to special interests and take a stand against climate-change denial.

MARTA needs to be expanded farther north

The front page article on Jan. 23 on perimeter traffic warnings (“Perimeter traffic onslaught predicted”) is pointing at an explosive traffic problem. Expecting MARTA rail to help relieve some of this traffic growth is misleading since only those living to the south of the Sandy Springs/Dunwoody area would be served, whereas probably most of those who will be working in the impacted area would be living to the north like Alpharetta. And to “help,” the governor projects expanding MARTA more to the north but that is “years away.” My suggestion to our great political leaders is get off your “sit downs” and gear up the MARTA expansion farther to the north and expand GA 400 to handle twice its current load.
