New transportation taxes or “user fees” may be introduced in the 2015 legislative session beginning next month. But an anti-tax group says Georgia’s government already has enough public money to fix roads and bridges; if Gov. Nathan Deal wants more revenue for improvements, he should cut spending elsewhere and redirect it toward transportation. In our second column, leaders of a DeKalb County neighborhood say one of MARTA’s two proposed designs for a light-rail line from Lindbergh station through Emory University is unacceptable because it would claim homes and detract from an entrenched community.
