A kind note from a customer accompanied a $100 tip for a Colorado waiter nervous of his place in America after voters chose Donald Trump to serve as the country's 45th president.
The waiter, Osamah Ajour, is an immigrant from the Middle East who works at Damascus Grill in Denver, according to The Denver Post. He got the tip on Nov. 9 after speaking with a woman about the election results.
He told the woman that he was uneasy with Trump's win because he is Muslim and an immigrant, KDVR reported.
"You belong here and I'm glad you are here," the customer wrote on her receipt, along with the 435 percent tip for her $23.61 meal. A photo of the receipt, shared by a friend of Ajour's on Facebook, garnered thousands of likes and shares.
Ajour told The Denver Post that he was in disbelief when he saw the receipt. The customer, who he didn't want to identify, spoke with him briefly about his reaction to the election. He told her that he was "hanging in there."

Ajour has spent more than a year as a student in the United States. He told The Post that he followed two uncles to America, including one who has spent more than 30 years living in Colorado.
"Before Election Night, I called my mom and she told me to stay away from Donald Trump and I told her I only see him on TV," Ajour told The Post. "Now she's worried about people who voted Trump. I told her everybody is nice here."
