A 92-year-old woman became the oldest female to finish a marathon Sunday.

Harriette Thompson, 92, finished the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego in just over seven hours. ABC station 10News was at the finish line when Thompson crossed. Her official time was 7:24:36.

"I'm going to be disappointed if it stops. I'm enjoying it! I love being pampered," Thompson said of the attention she has been receiving.

She runs for a special reason -- to end cancer.

She has had cancer twice. Her husband died of cancer in January and her son just began his own round of chemotherapy.

"I'll be praying for him the whole time," she told 10News before Sunday's race.

Thompson said her secret is relatively simple.

"I put one foot down and then another one. I love to run," Thompson said.

Her pace in Sunday’s race was just under 17 minutes per mile.

Thompson has run the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon several times before. 10News reports it’s the only race she runs.
