A nine-year-old girl who wants to be a journalist is responding to critics who say she should "go play with dolls" instead.
For the last two years, Hilde Lysiak has been posting news about her hometown of Selingsgrove, Pennsylvania on a Facebook page.
This weekend, she received a tip about a crime scene in town. When she went to the scene, she learned that a 75-year-old woman had been killed in her home.
Hilde published a story about it, but readers started making negative comments.
One said, "I am disgusted that this cute little girl thinks she is a real journalist."
Another said, ''Nine-year-old girls should be playing with dolls."
Her response to the haters?
"Because of my work, I was able to inform the people that there was a terrible murder hours before my competition even got to the scene," Hilde said.
"I know some of you just want me to sit down and be quiet because I'm nine. But, if you want me to stop covering news, then you get off your computer and do something about it."
Hilde, whose father is a former reporter at the New York Daily News, ended the video by asking, "There, is that cute enough for you?"
