A World War II and Korean War veteran has been reunited with a boxful of his service medals, including a Purple Heart.
According to KLTV, Michael Gunn bought the box at an estate sale a few years ago. When he determined to whom they belonged, he took steps to return them to the man who earned them.
Gunn said the 25 service and campaign medals, including the Purple Heart, which is awarded for being wounded or killed in combat, belonging to Puett Wilcox.
"I was dumbfounded, really, and thankful that somebody would go to a lot of trouble," Wilcox said. "It gets me right in the heart,"
Gunn has offered to pay for a display case for the medals, KLTV reported.
