Sergeant Legrand Strickland served in the U.S. Army for more than a decade before being injured in Afghanistan in 2010.
He lost his legs as result and has since been awarded a Purple Heart.
Sergeant Strickland was invited out to the 2015 Bixby BBQ & Blues Festival to enjoy some music and good food. Little did he know it would be a night he’ll never forget.
Soldier’s Wish surprised Sgt. Strickland with his 1964 Chevy Impala that’s been retrofitted with hand controls so he can drive it.
“I can’t even put it into words.” Strickland told KRMG. “It’ll hit me in a little while… What happened today, I didn’t expect.”
The car belonged to his late father and the two of them restored it themselves.
Strickland lives in the area, so keep your eyes peeled for that red ’64 Impala and a soldier with a big smile on his face.
