A woman pumping gas suddenly experienced some terrifying moments as her car was set on fire after another vehicle hit a gas pump, sending it crashing into her car.

Surveillance cameras at the Citgo station on Main Street in Farmington, Connecticut, caught the whole incident on video.

Police say an elderly man backed into the pump, which then tipped over onto another car.

"I just felt something and I looked and there was just smoke pouring out from under the bridge from the gas station," witness Jennifer Pogson told WTIC-TV.

Video shows the woman who was pumping gas swooping into her car to rescue two small children and a man inside as fire starts to engulf the vehicle.

They all made it out safety.

“He was very shaken up. He was totally running on adrenaline at that point because he was in the front seat of the car and he had to grab the two kids out of the back seat and get them out to safety," Pogson said about the father inside the car.

Investigators said a quick-thinking attendant inside the gas station hit the emergency shut-off for the gas pump.

Once firefighters were able to get the flames under control, investigators said the two cars were destroyed by the fire and another three were damaged.

The gas station had to close because of the damage done to the pumps and the canopy overhead.

Police said no one was injured in the incident and so far, no one has been charged.

Neighbors nearby told WTIC-TV, they are glad the incident did not turn out any worse than it already had.
