A Florida woman was not taking anything from anybody when she said a man forced his way into her Fort Lauderdale apartment.

Alice Coleman, 61, said it all started Monday morning when she heard her building's fire alarm going off. When she opened the door to see what was going on, she said a man, later identified as Fitzroy Morton pushed his way in, WSVN reported.

Coleman said she felt like she was in trouble despite Morton's assurances she wasn't.

"He was telling me, 'No, mama. Everything gonna' be all right,'" Coleman told WSVN. She said she told the man: "Everything's not going to be all right. I'm not your mama. I don't know who you are. Get out of my house."

Then she said she bit Morton.

"I was able to bite him, and I didn't even have my teeth in my mouth like now," Coleman told WSVN. "My brother said, 'How did you bite him?' I said, 'With the little teeth I got, I bit him!' I felt some kind of danger. I sensed it and I seen that look on his face. My life was in danger."

Coleman said she ran out of the apartment but Morton stayed, locking her out of her own home.

She ran to a neighbor's apartment and called police.

When police arrived, Coleman said the man was still in her apartment and answered the door when police knocked, WSVN reported.

Morton was arrested and is being held in the Broward County Jail on burglary and false imprisonment charges, according to country criminal records.

Coleman says she's going be ready to protect herself in the future.

"I'll be more careful from now on when I open my door," Coleman told WSVN. "I'll open my door with my Taser because I have one."
