A day catching lobsters in the Florida Keys took a painful turn for former NFL star Warren Sapp when he was bitten on the arm by a shark.

The former Buccaneers defensive tackle was reaching into the water for a coveted crustacean during a charter fishing trip when he was bitten, the boat's captain told the Tampa Bay Times. The Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee was reportedly okay after his tangle with the shark. A witness told the Times that Sapp may have been bitten by a four-foot-long nurse shark.

The charter company also shared a photo of the bite on its Instagram page.

Sapp himself seemed to be in good spirits despite the bite, at least on social media.

An expert said earlier this summer that shark attacks were expected to drop this year after a record number worldwide in 2015. Florida recorded the highest total of unprovoked attacks in the U.S. In June, a diver off the west coast of Australia was killed by a shark that was reportedly longer than the diver's boat.
