In the video, Duke, a mother of two, is seen vacuuming out the trunk of out her vehicle. She doesn’t see a dark-colored SUV pull up beside her.

A man gets out and grabs her purse from the front seat.

“I see this man, like, crunched over with my car door open and his hand on my purse. It freaked me out, so I started screaming just to keep some people’s attention," she said.

When no one heard her, Duke tried to get her purse back.

“It probably wasn’t the best reaction to grab the door handle, but I guess the adrenaline, that’s just what I did,” she said. “I’m pushing, I’m pulling and the driver just went and knocked me right off my feet and took me down.”

Despite the dangerous encounter, she managed to walk away with just a few bumps and bruises.

“It takes a lot to spook me, but I got to say, I’m pretty spooked,” Duke said, adding that she’s concerned for her family because her driver’s license is in her purse.

“They know where I live,” she said.

Dukes said if she could do it over again, she would not have chased the thief, but she worked hard to save up for the purse, which is valued at $2,400.

Police are reviewing the surveillance video and working to identify at least three suspects.
